Alvin is a retired CEO of Titan Logix Corp and currently serves as Business Development Manager with Karlen Group, advising on growth strategy, digital innovation, and enterprise development. A professional engineer with over 30 years of experience, Alvin holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a life member of APEGA.
A serial entrepreneur and experienced board chair and director, Alvin has founded and co-founded multiple engineering firms and brings deep expertise in process automation, data analytics, ERP implementation, and governance. As Board President of AdaptAbilities, Alvin is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young adults with disabilities and their families.

Don Farries, FCIP, is a retired insurance industry executive based in Edmonton, Alberta, with over 40 years of experience. He previously served as Vice President and a Senior Partner at Roberts-McClure Insurance Services Ltd. for nearly two decades, where he was recognized for his integrity and strategic leadership.
Following his retirement, Don has remained actively engaged in his community and currently serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors for AdaptAbilities. Known for his reliability and straightforward approach. He brings a deep sense of commitment and professionalism to every endeavor. Don values clear communication, practical solutions, community connection, and taking great pride in cultivating lasting professional and personal relationships.
Henriette has lived in Edmonton since 1982. Her career has focused on helping people with disabilities reach their full potential in sport, recreation, and daily living skills. She has served on local, provincial, national, and international Boards and is an Accreditation Surveyor for the Alberta Council for Disability Services.
Henriette has presented and published research internationally in the field of Adapted Physical Activity and has been a member of the AdaptAbilities Board since 2023.
Stephen is in his 11th year on the AdaptAbilities Board of Directors. He is a retired Alberta Government manager with more than 30 years of experience across four ministries, where he served on ministerial management teams, led policy and planning units, and represented ministries on internal and interdepartmental committees.
Following his retirement, Stephen was a key member of the Alberta/Edmonton Special Olympics Management Committee. He also brings a deeply personal connection to the organization as the parent of Victor, who has participated in AdaptAbilities’ programs for 21 years.
Vanessa Doering is a collaborative, people‑focused HR Consultant who brings heart, clarity, and steady leadership to every room she’s in. With years of experience helping teams navigate complex challenges, she’s known for her practical problem‑solving style and her ability to connect with others in a genuine, meaningful way.
As the parent of a 27‑year‑old son with autism, Vanessa has a deep personal understanding of advocacy, inclusivity, and navigating systems that don’t always fit real life. That experience shapes her perspective and fuels her commitment to creating environments where diverse voices and needs are truly supported. She brings that same empathy, resilience, and big‑picture thinking to her board work, always focused on impact, collaboration, and doing what’s right for people.
Karen has over 20 years of executive-level HR experience across private, public, and non-profit sectors, including Oil & Gas, Construction, Manufacturing, Utilities, Telecommunications, and the Edmonton Police Service. She has worked in both unionized and non-union environments.
As a consultant, she supports start-ups and small to mid-sized organizations with HR strategy, operations, HRIS, employee relations, workforce planning, and benefits optimization.
Karen believes strong HR foundations and benefits plans are key to attracting, engaging, and retaining talent, and to building healthy, sustainable organizations.
Victoria Magpantay, CPA, CA is a proud Edmontonian with experience spanning public practice, industry, and government. She began her career at PwC in Audit and Assurance, followed by roles at ATCO and the Government of Alberta, where she led financial planning and budget development for ministries including Health, Labour and Immigration, and Agriculture and Forestry. Since 2008, her work has focused on financial stewardship, strategic planning, and effective governance.
Victoria currently serves as Manager, Member Engagement at CPA Alberta, supporting local CPA chapters, the CPA Alberta Volunteer Tax Clinic, and engaging members across the province through forums and peer-to-peer initiatives. She is honoured to serve on the Board of AdaptAbilities and is committed to contributing her financial and governance expertise in support of the organization’s mission. Outside of work, Victoria and her husband, Chris, enjoy cheering on their two children in soccer, basketball, and ninja.
