Adam’s Success At AdaptAbilities
Adam has many passions—Hot Wheels cars, wooden trains, and creating fun YouTube videos. Living with Chromosome 18P deletion, Adam faces challenges such as delays in motor skills and speech development. Adam uses a communication device to express himself with his peers, which allows him to actively participate and share his thoughts.
Adam participates in AdaptAbilities’ Community Connect program, relishing the opportunity to explore the community using Edmonton’s transit system to discover different destinations and the routes to get there. Adam is also setting his sights on money management skills to take his independence even further.
Through Community Connect, Adam has developed cooking and safety skills and takes pride in learning new recipes.
When he comes home, he loves talking about what he made during the day so he can try it again. His confidence in the kitchen has grown and so has his excitement to take on new challenges!
When Adam first joined AdaptAbilities, he was shy and unsure about his new surroundings. Over time, he has opened up significantly, now taking the initiative to engage in conversations with both friends and AdaptAbilities team members.
His confidence shines as he actively participates in group discussions, sharing his thoughts and ideas. Adam is thriving, building meaningful connections and sharing plenty of laughter with his peers!
What’s even more inspiring is Adam’s desire to connect with new participants, making an effort to reach out and form new friendships. His kind and helping nature have won the hearts of everyone around him.
Adam has truly blossomed at AdaptAbilities. Surrounded by friends and supported by his community, he is continuing to grow into the confident, capable young man we all know him to be.
Keep shining, Adam!
