Respite Programs in Edmonton and St. Albert

Respite is Essential

Respite is short-term, planned support that gives families and caregivers a break while ensuring their loved one is safe, supported, and engaged. Respite looks different for every family. For some it means running errands without rushing. For others it can mean spending time with family, or simply having a few hours to rest and recharge.

Regular respite for caregivers can help families and caregivers reduce stress, prevent exhaustion, manage work or other commitments, maintain friendships and other hobbies, and more. Whether you need time for errands, rest, work, or simply a moment to yourself, respite helps create that balance.

Respite at adaptabilities

AdaptAbilities’ programs provide respite all year long, including on the weekends! AdaptAbilities’ BeYou – Weekend Respite program provides a safe, social, and activity-filled Saturday experience. Participants can spend their day connecting with peers, exploring new activities, and building confidence. Programs run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, with sessions offered throughout the year at multiple Edmonton-area locations.

Participants have the opportunity to try new activities, build friendships, develop skills, and enjoy time in an environment where they are understood, included, and encouraged to be themselves.
