Octavia’s Joyful Summer Camp Experience
Can you believe it? The summer whizzed by, and there are only a few days left of our Hearts in Action Summer Camps! So many incredible friendships have been made and unforgettable memories have been created.
Thanks to AdaptAbilities’ Bursary Fund, Octavia attended two weeks of Hearts in Action Summer Camp this year.
Octavia is a bright, young girl that likes gymnastics and horseback riding. She enJOYs engaging in hobbies like crafting, knitting, and cooking. During her free time, she loves doing makeovers, often practicing on her grandma!
In the past, Octavia has faced challenges of insecurity, often having to start over and make new friends. HIA Summer Camp provided a supportive environment where she received 1:1 support to have a space where she could feel comfortable and participate.
Octavia learned how to navigate public transit and took part in various activities like swimming, gymnastics, and visiting the trampoline park.
These opportunities allowed her to explore her community and try new ventures that she may have not had the chance to take part in previously. Through these experiences, she has now gained the confidence to be out in the world!
Sadly, Octavia would not have been able to attend camp without Bursary Fund. She and her family are grateful that she was able to gain meaningful experiences and enJOY her time at camp.
We hope to see her again next year!
