Twenty-seven years ago, Barbara Steckly took the first step in building what would become a thriving business. From a small townhouse, she launched Preferred Client Services, a bookkeeping firm that she ran as both the owner and sole employee. Despite humble beginnings, Barbara’s core values and dedication to excellence have remained the foundation of her business, leading to its rapid growth through satisfied client referrals.

Barbara’s journey was marked by a series of key milestones. As the business expanded, she hired her first assistant and continued to recruit more people to join the team. With each new hire, Barbara transitioned into larger spaces. Fifteen years ago, Barbara made the pivotal decision to purchase commercial property, further solidifying her business’s foundation. Today, depending on the season, Preferred Client Services employs between twenty-five and thirty-five full-time staff members.

From the very start of AdaptAbilities, Preferred Client Services has been a dedicated donor. Barbara and her team recognize the unique and essential need that AdaptAbilities serves within the community, providing respite for families and empowering individuals with disabilities to grow, succeed and belong. AdaptAbilities regularly keeps donors informed about how their contributions are used and Barbara deeply values the transparency and communication.
