Double the Fun at HIA Summer Camp!

Ethan and Ayla are sweet twins with big hearts and big personalities. Ethan may be a little shy at first, but he quickly warms up to people and loves one-on-one attention. He’s a creative soul who enjoys Minecraft, drawing, and reading. Ayla is an independent and confident young lady who loves drawing, colouring, experimenting with makeup, and spending quality time with her family. She especially loves riding the golf cart at the cabin and is always eager to grow her confidence.

Before coming to AdaptAbilities, both Ethan and Ayla faced challenges in social situations. Ethan sometimes relied on his sister in group settings, while Ayla occasionally found it difficult to engage socially.

Ethan and Ayla attended Hearts in Action Summer Camps, providing meaningful experiences for both where they could participate in fun activities. The structured, supportive environment gave the children a sense of safety, which, in turn, provided peace of mind for their mom. With extra support and consistent routines, both Ethan and Ayla thrived! Camp gave them the freedom to make choices, develop friendships, and be themselves among their peers.

Financially, the family faced barriers in accessing camp. While approved for FSCD, they did not have a case worker, making it difficult to navigate funding. AdaptAbilities’ bursary program made attendance possible and even allowed for an extra week of camp—something the family describes as “the cherry on top.” For a family with two children with disabilities, they were truly grateful!

HIA Summer Camps gave their children not just a summer of fun, but a chance to grow, make friends, and feel fully included memories the family will cherish for years to come. We hope to see them back again next year
